Video;

[When the feed cuts on, it's later in the evening, well after the first day of Rocket training, and thus Emet-Selch is not wearing his uniform while in his little dormitory. What he is wearing is far more extravagant. Yes, he took the time to put that thing back on, he wasn't about to suffer the alternative longer than what was necessary. Of course there are likely those who saw him in that most abhorrent uniform, if others were in training or aiding in the training that is. All of which he's been entirely quick in mastering, almost as if he's already...mastered such trivial skills. He has, and plus some.

Regardless, that's not what this is about. Well, it kinda is, actually.]

Good evening, I am Solus zos Galvus—your newest recruit to this fine organization of unscrupulous villains. Certainly prompt with the training, aren't they? That sort of rigid discipline I can most certainly respect—after all, with poor foundation, you cannot expect aught else but for everything to come crumbling down around you.

[He settles back in his seat, resting his elbow on the desk he's clearly sitting at, cupping his cheek with the palm of his hand as he lazily gazes into the feed.]

Regardless, such training is wasted on one such as I, but I understand rules are rules, and even I am no exception. [There's the slightest edge of annoyance to his tone, but it disappears as he continues.] Regardless, 'twould do us well to know each other properly, wouldn't you agree? So come, introduce yourselves to me. For I will know each and every one of you, as well as what rank you hold—what skill sets you have, and so forth.

If I am to familiarize myself with this team, to know which holes my expertise should rightly fill, then I must take your measure.

I'd say the typing acts more like a complicated elemental table, specific to Pokemon and not necessarily the composition of the universe.

Taxonomic genera is an entirely separate topic - there are canines and birds that fall under a wide variety of types, as well as Pokemon that wouldn't fit in a traditional organic taxonomy. Steel types especially tend to be non-organic or just weird in the application thereof.

I don't doubt we'll find a lot of Pokemon who are directly analogous to fauna from your world. There's a lot that match my world's.

Allegedly, all Pokemon were made by a creator god - also a Pokemon, of course - so you could make a pretty solid argument that they're all arcane beasts, but they still exist in very physical ways.

If you ever want a hand looking into all of that bullshit some more, I've been doing a lot of research into it. It's useful to know if you want to do any kind of battling, since different types have strengths and weaknesses against other types. Sometimes they can be a bit... obscure.

Sounds like a plan, then. When you're done training - either properly finished or just done for the day, I'm fine with either - I'll show you some of the things your... Yamask, was it? Can do. Ghosts are pretty notorious for having some horrifying powers. There's one attack called Curse that makes your Pokemon hurt itself quite severely, but causes your opponent to keep taking spectral damage until they pass out.

I'm pretty sure there's some mythology behind Yamask as well, I was hoping to get one myself later on. I'll get back to you on that.

I'm busy tomorrow as well, as it turns out. I'm on personal business in Cianwood City. [Hence the obvious hotel room in his background.] I'll see what day I make it back to Goldenrod, and we can organise something then. You should only be training for around a week, so soon you'll have a lot of free time.

According to what I've read on them, they're not a native Pokemon to Johto or Kanto, so they're extremely rare. There's rumours of them being found in the Ruins of Alph - a set of ancient ruins located quite close to Violet City, it's about a five-day hike from Goldenrod - but they're allegedly quite rare.

[He's deaf, not blind - he is well aware when someone isn't giving him their full attention, because most of the time it's required. And so he raises one eyebrow rather pointedly as his patient gaze turns sharp, and his hand movements become a bit more clipped.]

Do let me know if I'm boring you. I'd hate for talking to you to be a waste of time.

[There's a clearly disbelieving look on his face, but he doesn't press the matter.]

Let me know if I've been repeating anything to the point of redundancy, then. I'm not particularly inclined to paying attention to conversations I'm not directly involved in, so I can't say what Steven or Lydia have already said to you.

[Not least of all because Steven, bless his heart otherwise, only subs when he remembers - or rather assumes - that Tyler will want to read it. So he quite literally can't stalk other people's conversations without completely losing focus on talking to Solus. Which, frankly, he's becoming more and more partial to the idea of.]

If nothing else, I should be back in Goldenrod for an extended period after the eighth, if your designs haven't completely booked you out that night. [look: you're a bitch and he's not about that shit]

[A valid question, he supposes.]

My secondary was a Houndoom, a Fire-Dark dog, so not particularly, but my first was Isis. [And he pauses to give his Natu a rub behind one eye, making her squint happily.] A Psychic type, which means she's able to understand me without speech, small enough to stay out of her ball and on my person without causing a substantial fuss, and able to project my thoughts into other people's minds. While she's not as narratively fitting to me as other Pokemon I've since sought out, she was rather unusually appropriate in letting me work around a poorly compensated disability here.

[Isis is a sharp-eared bird, even if her constant staring betrays nothing behind those eyes. Tyler decides to hold that in reserve for later.]

Nothing so much as I'd like to warn you to watch who you're flashing that condescending tone at. You're going to get yourself in trouble, or at the very least scorned by most of the current Rocket team if you don't start sounding like less of a tool. No one likes being patronised.

[Least of all him. And so he chooses to finish the conversation himself, with a little half wave, half salute, before he-- disconnects, the little shit, Tyler just hangs up on Solus.]

[Not gonna lie, it's refreshing to see someone else accidentally offend Tyler for once.]
