[Video] After his first day of rocket bootcamp cuz time is fake
[It's later in the evening when a new message pops up on the network and from a new recruit to boot! Finally freed from the first day of training, Hermes made no time in making himself acquainted with the network of this world. It was new for mortals as far as he was aware, but still simple to pick up on its uses. It was charming in its own way and faster than mortal couriers!
When the video clicks on he's reclining in what can only be guessed as the on of the bunks, still in uniform though he's swapped the hat back for his golden laurels. All smiles for the camera.]
Hey there! Got a quick message for you all!
[He clears his throat and as if he were reading something out loud, he continues.]
While I can't say I'm too impressed with all of this so far, I've decided, though I suppose with little other choice, to grant you all the boon of my aid. Limited as it may be within these mortal constraints. As such, feel free to call upon me should you need me! Ah, after this mandatory training of course.
Sincerely, your newest coworker, Hermes.
[And just as quick as he got that ramble of a message out, he clicks off the feed.]

Duly noted, my new associate. You can trust I won't forget on that you have my word. I fear though, adjusting to being mortal will simply take more time!
[He gives a short laugh. Imagine that, Hermes needing more time. It's all quite novel.]
Can you believe just today I was hungry of all things? It's a wonder, really, that mortals get anything done with how much their body demands of them.

[And, because he's him, he certainly took note of the conversation between Hermes and Steven. So, he's that Hermes.]
Would it be remiss of me to assume that you may be the storied Hermes of Olympus?

[He lights up at recognition though. While being unknown is fun in it's own way, he's still an Olympian and he's got an ego to stroke.]
No, you got it. That's me alright. The swiftest god on Olympus, at your service. I must say though, you've got me curious! You're immortal, or something like it I take, but where are you from?
[Seeing as by name alone he's no immortal Hermes is familiar with, he's betting on another world entirely.]

[But enough about them, hm? He has spoken to and of many mortals, but never has he spoken to Hermes—of Olympus.]
Indeed, like you, I am immortal. Though, unlike you, I hail from a world commonly referred to as Hydaelyn. [Though, that's a loaded fact. One that he says with such ease and practice, the true malice he feels about it is drowned out behind his friendly and nasally tone.] I know well you and yours are classified as "gods" to your mortals, but I would not quite name myself thus. Rather, I am know as an Ascian, yet I would measure us quite similar despite this disparity in classification.

[He gives a dismissive wave at the matter of taste. Opinions on mortals were so varied, even among the gods on Olympus. Better to just move on! He listens on with clear interest though. Hydaelyn definitely wasn't anywhere he's been before. He expected it, but still to learn of yet another place he hadn't been before was a trip!]
So, this Ascian term you're using. I take it that's not just your world's fancy term for a god over there. So what's the difference then?
no subject
[Yeah, he's down with moving past the whole talk of mortals. He's kinda sick of them, and it's refreshing to meet another that ranks among him, Elidibus, and Dirk. Hythlodaeus in a way too, but he's...look, it's complicated.]
Mortals would name us gods for our might, but we are not so. Gods, or more accurately named primals, simply exist without the natural order of life, and are created by the minds of those who worship them. Belief made manifest through faith, prayer, and sacrifice.
I am so named an Ascian for my servitude to one such Primal—Lord Zodiark. He was the first of His kind, the eldest and most powerful, summoned forth by my people in our time of need. I would wager your existence did not come from hope and prayer, but by something more naturally aligned, yes?
