Well, it seems the lot of you got up to quite the party just before my arriVal.
Terrible timing, but I can't complain if this is hoW you conduct yourselVes on the regular.
As is obVious, I'm neW here. The name's Lanque Bombyx.
For those more experienced With this World and this organization, I'd appreciate WhateVer adVice you might haVe for someone in my position.
It isn't one I'm particularly used to, after all, but I'm adaptable and knoWn for being flexible—in many Ways.
Who knoWs, We might enjoy getting to knoW one another While We're at it.
NeVer hurts to make neW friends, right?

Perhaps the best advice is that I wouldn't take most of this seriously, the level of "crime" that the natives of this place get up to is childish at best. Mostly things like pickpocketing, stealing the native creatures here, that sort of thing. Nothing terribly dangerous or interesting, unless you do it yourself or work with someone else not native to this place. Oh, and you can't really harm anyone here, it's rather odd.
[He's just casually forgetting to give his name, oops.]
Text
Really. That's interesting.
I figured this place Was a little Weird for a Variety of reasons, but if the parties aren't quite so frequent, then that's fine.
Don't need to get oVerstimulated so quickly, Where Would the fun be in that?
Well, I guess that depends on your taste and What "fun" means to you.
So, What's your name?
Text
I'd prefer to keep the local law enforcements far off of my tail, personally. Little things here and there are less likely to be noticed than grand and bombastic heists, after all. And if you keep going for the grand ordeal, then it becomes old and the new normal fairly quickly.
Robert E. O. Speedwagon. Most call me by the latter part of my name, easier when Robert's such a common name.
Text
Is it? I can't say I'Ve eVer heard such an interesting name before, but if you prefer SpeedWagon, then Who am I to deny you?
You're right, though. No point in Wearing out a good time by making it a mundanity, I'm usually not one for repeats, anyWay.
So, I suppose I'll just settle for the time being. Fortunately, I'm used to Waiting.
You sound like an experienced badass, though. Not your first time around the block When it comes to crime?
HoW attractiVe.
Text
Use Robert if you wish, but not many around here do. [It's like two people, man.]
Mm. I suppose you could say that I've been around the block a time or two. Until fairly recently in my home I more or less ran a particularly dangerous street gang of sorts. Not that it much matters anymore given those here seem more inclined to think I'm a "grunt" still. Distressing, truly.
Is it really attractive to be a criminal?
Text
Of course it is, I don't see What's so hot about being thoughtlessly subserVient to arbitrary structures that stand adVerse to your oWn desires.
Criminals haVe confidence, and What's not to like about that?
But don't sWeat it, sWeetie, I met someone Who claimed to be a Beta, and While I Wouldn't argue that he fits the bill in some meanings of the Word, I knoW that's a higher rank than Where We currently find ourselVes.
Which says to me that these ranks don't mean much. I can already tell you are far more deserVing of that rung of echeladder than he, yet here you are.
Text
"Sweetie"? Not a term I'd usually use for myself. Nor has anyone used for me.
Though I must wonder who this beta you met is, there's not that many of them from the non-natives. If those here don't see a reason to take me seriously, then so be it, though I'd stand to say I have far more experience with all of... this than the majority. Most seem akin to newborns when it comes to criminality in general.

Sorry if you're not into the whole crime thing
They just nab random people sometimes, I guess.
If it makes you feel better though, they're probably not going to make you do anything TOO bad.
The wildlife here can be kind of messed up, but nothing REALLY violent ever seems to happen
I think it CAN'T happen?
It's weird honestly.
text
It depends on What you mean by "those aliens".
I don't giVe a shit about abiding by any laWs, so committing crimes isn't an issue for me.
I tend to prioritize a good time oVer being a stiff, Wild I knoW.
Pretty used to unruly fauna, Well, maybe not personally, but Where I'm from Violence and death is pretty pedestrian, and lusii contribute to some of that.
So, What's With the color? I noticed not eVeryone uses one, and it's hardly one I'Ve seen used before, except maybe When some idiot thinks they're being edgy by defying their caste color.
I haVe to say, pink's rather bold.
text
Oh I'm a human being, I just think being able to choose a color is neat
So I went with my hair color.
I don't know why more people don't do it... Maybe they just don't know they can?
text
Though, I suppose I'm less pink, and more tan.
WhateVer.
I don't see Why people Wouldn't knoW they can pick a color, it's pretty obVious for anyone With a Working thinkpan.
no subject
And I don't know, I guess I never thought of checking the options until I saw somebody with different-colored text
[Correction: he saw Dirk do it first, thought of asking him but decided against it because the guy's kind of a dick, then took his chance when he met Terezi.]

Is it customary that humans just type in black? That's just Weird.

And this time I'm not missing it~ How exciting~
Well, Lanque (Or would you rather Bombyx??? Honestly where I came from, last or first name basis were both pretty fair...), I'm Carly Nagisa~! One of the 'import' Betas here!
Which is really just a fancy way of saying one of the 'top' rank people who came from out of this crazy place. Go figure, no one's really figured out how to get any higher up the ranks...
Well, in any case, ahhh...you probably figured out the part where you just got interdimensionally kidnapped into a crime ring... ...oh, but it's definitely a lot better than it seems! Especially from inside the dorms, yeck. Those things are so dark...
no subject
You're another Beta, huh? Well, I'm sure you'll be a lot more helpful than the other one I met, or at least, much better company.
Tell me something, is it common for this planet to change neW arriVals into the natiVe species here? I can't say that I'Ve particularly read up on What all the other planets in the surrounding galaxy Were like back on Alternia, but I neVer heard of THIS happening before.
It's not a problem, but I guess it's not NOT a problem either. Something to get used to, anyWay.
Oh, and I'm not too concerned about the crime thing. That's pretty pedestrian, but being Warped across dimensions is a first.
As for the dorms... I used to liVe in caVerns, and my species is nocturnal, so a little darkness isn't a problem.
no subject
It happens to everyone though yep. Alien, animal, slightly non-human, everyone's going to end up 'human' here. Probably something about them being the dominant sort on the planet other than pokemon I guess...
Ooh, I wouldn't be surprised about never hearing about it though, this is a whole other dimension after all~!
Ahem. Nocturnal huh... ...well, uh, welcome to the world of the diurnal I guess, because that's how most humans here sure operate...
no subject
Wait, an entirely different dimension? Not just another planet, or galaxy?
HoW do you knoW?
But more oVer, am I to assume the sun here doesn't bake nor blind WhomeVer stands in its direct rays?
no subject
And that's easy- it's all the differences. Think about the chances of more than a few planets with the same name, the same dominant species of people, the same countries, oceans, shapes...
All with just little differences! Simple things like 'this city doesn't exist', or 'dragons are real', and so on... At the end of the day, it's the only thing that makes sense you know!
You'd be correct though~! Yikes though wherever you're from must be really...really close to a nasty star huh...
no subject
Can't be that far from the truth, at any rate.
Our sun IS pretty nasty, and any Who are outside When it rises are as good as dead.
It'll take some getting used to, but I guess I'm lucky my situation isn't the reVerse.

Hi Lanque! I'm Scorpia. It's great to meet you and I just love that pretty green you're using. New friends are great-- oh, oh! Tell us about yours! Your Pokemon, I mean!
[The camera moves off Scorpia to show a Rocket dorm room, with an Alcremie, a Gogoat, Miltank and no less than three Bewears hanging around.]
This is Cream! And then Spring and Millie, and Mr. and Ms. Huggles and SQUEE! I have more too, but they're napping right now.
He gives more of a smirk than a smile, but at least it looks passably friendly? It also seems that Lanque is likewise in a rocket dorm, to the surprise of no one.]
...Well, you're certainly energetic, aren't you? Clearly a fan of those...large beasts, whatever they are.
[But, as requested, he turns the camera's view to show a Salandit curled up and asleep at the foot of his bed, before the camera tilts upward to show the Noibat flapping around the room before it finally lands and settles next to the Salandit. He gives Lanque (and the 'gear) a curious stare, before wrapping his wings around himself, effectively hiding his face.]
Apparently they're called Salandit and Noibat. I've named them Teidae and Doidea, respectively. [With the camera turned back to Lanque, he quirks an eyebrow.] So, how long have you been here?
And those are Bewear, the Hugging Pokemon! They give the best hugs! Right, guys?
[At that one of the Bewears comes over and gives Scorpia one hell of a bear hug which she returns with a will. Was that crack from Scorpia's back, or the Bewear's? Hard to say, because neither seems bothered.]
They're both super cute! With cute names to match.
[She pauses to think.] And I've been here almost two months. Little Perfuma and Emily are both napping now, and little Perfuma can get grumpy when she wakes up or I'd introduce them too! They were my first two Pokemon friends here. I've made a lot more though!
[Is his quick reply, but then she's...hugging that giant thing, and all he can think of is two musclebeasts fighting for dominance over one another, but somehow way less violent. As she returns, Lanque's merely looking on with budding amusement.]
They certainly have some charm to them, I'll admit, but there's no reason to disturb yours. I'm not entirely unfamiliar with wrangling monsters, though these are way less bitchy than the fauna of my planet.
Anyway, I'm sorry, but months?
[His brow furrows for a moment.]
Are you meaning perigees?
Oh yeah! They're all really friendly here. Well, a lot of them want you to prove the strength of you and your friends first, but after that they're great friends too.
I know what you mean though; I've met some creatures pretty determined to eat me! Although that may have been the weird infection from the First One's tech that Entrapta had...
Anyway! I'm not sure what a perigee is. But! A month is how they break up the year. Um, I think they base it on the cycle of the one moon? It's so weird to have just one moon. I mean, the sun and stars are weird too, but that was something we just didn't know we had at home until recently because of portal magic.
[Then Scorpia stops, blinks and makes a noise of realization.]
Caste? And a color... I met someone who talked like that here! She said she was a troll!
Yeah, I mean, Alternia has two moons, so with there only being one here, it's pretty damn weird. Perigees are also based on the moon, it's the point when the moon's orbit is the closest to the planet—but wait, you didn't have a sun or stars? Portal magic?
[He's not even sure how the hell that happens, unless someone is kept completely underground. And having been someone who, for the better part of his life, was indeed made to be subterranean, he can uniquely say that even he knows of their existence.]
You're the second person to allude to another troll being here, but apparently she isn't anymore. But yes, I am a troll—a Jade blood.
